Life Lessons

December 17, 2015

If you want to learn a lot about yourself really fast, go to college. If you want to learn about how much Heavenly Father loves you and has a special plan for you, go to college. If you want to learn about having a to-do list so long that it takes up multiple pages, go to college. If you want to be stressed out of your mind one second and then laughing so hard that you are crying the next second, go to college. I don't really care, go to college. It's awesome.
In the past five months up at Utah State University, I have learned so much. I feel so blessed to be up at USU and to be surrounded by all those there. My testimony has exploded up here and I know that Heavenly Father is watching over me and I am so, so, so grateful for that. I am so lucky to have some awesome roommates, be a part of Kappa Delta, have an awesome YSA ward and bishopric, and be able to learn so much. Utah State is one of the greatest places on Earth.
Finals Week taught me a few more lessons that I'll share with you really quickly. I didn't take any photos of studying, but I promise that some of that happened this week too.

Lesson #1: whenever you check your Snapchats, it's very important to pay attention to the background details because sometimes your best friend from Quickwater Ranch five years ago (Abbie Hodgson) is having dance party three floors above you in your dorm building. So you run up there. And you scream and hug her even though it's Quiet Hours because of Finals Week but whatever.
I hadn't seen Abbie since QWR like a million years ago but she was up at Utah State University visiting some of her friends because she is on Winter Break right now. Abbie is studying political science at Southern Utah University and I am now trying to drag her up to Logan with me. It's going to work out. Eventually.
Lesson #2: Sales at Old Navy are ALWAYS worth it. Especially when it counts as retail therapy because Finals Weeks sucks. And matching pj sets (that are like three sizes too big) are AMAZING and always need a Christmas Eve photo shoot. Thank you Apple for the self-timer.
Lesson #3: Sometimes taking the leap *cough joining a sorority cough* is worth it because you get a really super, duper amazing homegirl out of it. Jackie Dean has taught me so much about love and support and I am so grateful for her. I'm going to miss Sister Wisconsin but Sister Wyoming will be back to Kappa Delta soon.
Thank you Utah State University for an insane first freshman semester and cramming so many life lessons into five months, that was cool and kinda stressful but whatever.
Love, Caitie
